Try weighing an empty laundry basket, then fill it with the amount of clothes you would typically put in a washer. Subract the weight of the basket to get the weight of the laundry.

Repeat this every time you do laundry for a week or so, then calculate the average weight. I think you will see quite a bit of variation from load to load because some articles, like jeans, are made of heavier material.
