This was for a CA speeding ticket issued by the Highway Patrol. I forgot about the ticket and they garnished my wages. They took out 25% from both of my paychecks from my 2 jobs and they are still taking it out even though it is paid.

They might have charged you a bunch of fees for not paying on time.

Did you receive any notification (a letter, an email) stating exactly how much you own and how much they were garnishing BEFORE they took it out? If so, make a copy of this letter and present one to your department of Motor Vehicles and the company doing the collecting. Perhaps the DMV doesn't know that the company is deducting more than it's supposed to. You might kick off a big investigation. But either way, make sure you have the documentation (letters, paycheck stubs, etc.) to back up your claims.

contact the agency garnishing your wages. I am sure there is some policy documented somewhere that if you do not pay, and they must garnish your wages, there will be an additional fine/ fee assessed as well. Also, if you did not pay the ticket, a warrant may have been issued, and you could be paying off that warrant as well.
