I accidentally paid my bill with a canceled bank account and it was rejected. Now I have a $30 fee for returned check on my card, anyone know a good way to get out of paying this fee?

I work at one, to remain unnamed, but if you are completely honest, and it doesn't happen normally they will remove it. If not ask for a manager and tell them you're going to the other company. I hate those calls lol, but it usually works. (they should remove it anyway if you aren't delinquent normally) :)

Most likely you are stuck with the charge. However, credit cards are a commodity and these companies know this. I had a late payment charge on an account that was in good standing. It was only late by a couple of days, but it was still late.

I informed the credit card company that I expected this fee to be refunded. If I was not happy with their answer, I told the customer rep that I would close my account.

Credit card companies do not have control over consumers. There is to much competition out there.

that's a tough one. If you have had the card for some time and have never had a problem, you could call them and explain what happened and they may waive the fee. If its a recent account, chances are they won't do anything. People unfortunately tell lies all the time - not that you are - so they don't normally provide a benefit for a new customer like that. You would need to have a good track record with them. Good Luck!

If you have a good payment record, you can usually call the credit card company and they might waive the fee. If you don't have a good payment record, you're just going to have to pay it.

Call and ask, the worst they can do is say no.

Contact the credit card company and explain what happened. If you have remained in good standing with this credit card company, they will waive the fee.

I believe you are stuck. If you read all the fine print you will realize that this is a lesson well learned

There is no way...you owe it, so pay it.
