Buy the MS Office Student and Teacher edition. It has the same features as the standard version and only costs around $120.
It is frequently sold at a variety of computer and office supply stores or you can go to academicsuperstore.com. Best part, while your supposed to be a student (any grade) no one ever asks and the software is licensed for installation on up to 3 computers.

Try buying the Student /Teacher edition, it is a good investment and can be benefical to younger people because of the tutorials, it is the same as the full version, but it has number of areas and extras to help student with using the program and doing projects and school assignments.
It runs about 33% less than the basic version of the full version, check Staples, Best Buy CompUSA anda on-line clearance site, www.bigclearance.com, they have different and some older version for very low prices, you could find a Office 2000 or 2002 for under $200.
