I live in Tennessee and have the following problems; I have been convicted of 3 DUI's - all in Tennessee - my first was in October of 2004, my second was in November of 2004, and my third was in July of 2005. The judge reduced my 2nd to a 1st and I am currently on probation for DUI 2. I am elligible to get my license back in April of 2008, however by order of the judge I have to have an intoxilizer installed in my car for 6 months. my first question is how much that will cost, and my 2nd question is with that many DUI convictions will i even be able to get my license back in 2008 and how many points does that put on my license? By the way I have been sober 9 months and I understand there is no excuse for my reckless behavior. I'm just having a little trouble understanding if they will reinstate my driving priveliges in 4/08 or if I will have to wait longer because of the point system?

I am not sure of Tennessee laws, so this may not help a lot. But in many states, as long as you have a clean record for usually 3 years, your points will be taken off. There is usually a maximum per year. NJ will take off 3 points after 3 years of a clean record. Then 3 points a year as long as it stays clean. Perhaps Tennessee has the same type of thing. I am sure you can check with the Tennessee DMV to find out exactly how that state works.
