Eating breakfast jump-starts your motabolism. Before you eat your first meal, your body isn't breaking compounds down for the day and distributing them. After you eat, the process begins, therefore making you hungry at the next appropriate time for a meal. Doctors will often tell you that if you are considering trying to lose weight, you should start out by eating a healthy breakfast to get your motabolism working.

I believe that when you don't eat breakfast you don't get your stomach acids pumping and your metabolism running which will result in you eating too much later in the day to make up for it. When you do eat breakfast it gets your metabolism engine running and when you feel hungry your body is saying hey, I need some more energy.
It also depends on what you have for breakfast, sugary cereals and carbs will leave you starving in a couple of hours. But eggs which are high in protein or a high fiber cereal will give you the energy you need and keep you full longer.

I've been asking people and doctors that question for years.

If I go without breakfast, I don't get hungry until mid-afternoon.
If I eat breakfast, I'm ready for lunch a couple of hours later.

It's really bad (for me, at least) to eat something sugary (like a donut, etc.) in the morning--that makes me extremely hungry in less than an hour.

When eating breakfast, or any other meal, try not to drink anything for 15 minutes. That way, your stomach has to work harder and you won't feel hungry afterwards.

I think it is because all the blood goes to the stomach and it wants more. If you eat a large breakfast I do not think this will happen.

The more often you eat, the faster your metabolism speeds up. You feel hungrier because you are burning food at a faster rate.

it is probably the food you are eating, if you eat more protein you won't be as hungry, where as carbs burn off faster.
