It's not a new thing. Check this out:
"By any measure, the United States remains a highly religious nation, compared to other developed countries. And its citizens tend to hold more conservative beliefs. For example, the percentage of adults who believe that "the Bible is the actual word of God and it is to be taken literally, word for word" is 5 times higher in the U.S. than in Britain. Church attendance is about 4 times higher in the U.S. than it is in Britain. 1 Similarly, according to one opinion poll, belief that "Human beings developed from earlier species of animals..." is much smaller in the United States (35%) than in other countries (as high as 82%)."

It seems to me that you hate the one thing that to us is most precious. You hate our freedom, our individual freedom. Our individual freedom to live as we choose, to come and go as we choose, to believe or not believe as we individually choose. Here, in this society, the very wind carries freedom. It carries it everywhere from sea to shining sea. We Americans are all about freedom. It is yet true that we will bare any burden; pay any price, to preserve our freedoms. See that flag. That's the flag of the United States of America. That flag stands for freedom, AND IT ALWAYS WILL! This Country is based on fundamental Christian beliefs. It is your right, here in the USA, not to agree with anything that you want. However, it is NOT YOUR RIGHT to infringe on the way I believe. If you are so sick and frustrated about your life here, why don't you just pack up your stuff and get out. You do have the right to leave you know.

Personally, I blame the McCarthy era. He got away with inserting "In God We Trust" into everything, as well as the insertion of "One Nation Under God" into the Pledge of Allegiance.
It's unconstitutional.
The government, according to the first amendment, specifically states that it CANNOT MANDATE A RELIGION.
The "God" mentioned is a specific God with specific attributes giving preference and special dispensation to a specific religion. Not everyone in this country is a Christian, contrary to popular belief, and not everyone needs to be.
Freedom of religion is freedom FROM religion.

HEY!
Don't go judging me, man! I don't wanna be judged.
You guys should just keep your closed minded, bigotted selves quiet and stop judging other people.
I don't know why you guys have to always force your views on everyone else.
There should be a lot more tolerance and less judging!
Hmmm...where have I heard all that before?

If the US was falling into fundamental Christiandom, we would be pulling out of the war, loving our neighbors, and stopping all the nonsense bills/laws that are being passed against fundamental beliefs (gay marriage, abortion, placement of 10 commandments, prayer in schools, etc.). I'm annoyed at the LACK of Christian faith in this country. We NEED Jesus, today, tomorrow, and always!
Callen I like your thoughts.

It's the God of our fathers. We've seen God work miracles for this country through prayer. Our attempts to eliminate God in this country has not improved it. Our debts alone are ungodly.
Our children are dying needless deaths because we fail to teach them about God. The family is divorcing and aborting children. There are no dads to guide the family. There are no mothers to raise the children. Everybody thinks they are homosexual. Everybody thinks they must tolerate everything.
I hope you are right that we are returning to God and our Savior Jesus Christ, but I haven't seen it. I pray to God that this country finds their Christian roots, repents and returns to the Lord.

It is a sad fact that humans tend to become the very things they find reprehensible in their enemy.
Terroristic Islam is extremely fundamental and is the current enemy... so... the knee jerk reaction is to become just as fundamentalist the otherway.
History in cycles...

if you can see in the same manner that God sees, you would see not a touch of evil. All things have a divine purpose that is indiscernable to human eyes.
Be careful in how you think, sickness leads to poor health.

You cannot divorce religion from people or their government. We are a spiritual people and our spirituality will permeate everything we do, whether you like it or not. Be thankful you live in a country where you aren't killed for holding your own opinion...at least we haven't come to that yet.
