I do not know about other states, but in NC the department of corrections posts the public information on their website. This includes a projected release date. I would guess that other states do something similar. Otherwise, contacting the prison itself, or the admin offices of the system would work.

if they're in a city or county jail then of course call that jail, if they're in the department of corrections then you go to that state+department of corrections .com,type in name and age and they'll give you the unit and release date.

Call the city courts (that put him/her in jail) They will be able to help you. If they cant tell you then they should be able to direct you to who ever can..
