I think the muscles around their mouth might be difficult to manipulate into a pucker----I noticed that too! I just laugh and say she wants to "TASTE" everything.

Because they don't yet know the concept of a kiss or how to do it. Like someone said, they probably think they are getting to put something in their mouth, and they also don't know how to form their lips into the kiss yet.

Because they don't know the difference in closing their mouths to kiss I think its funny my daughter does that to and she is 7 months old.

Because babies indinstinctively put everything in their mouth.It's their nature to always have the mouth open (like a baby bird)

My youngest daughter does that too! I love it, it's so cute! They don't know how to close their mouth or pucker yet. They're still learning things. She just started where she will leave her mouth half-closed now or close her lips when she feels hers touch mine. They really don't understand the whole concept of kissing, only that we react to it, so they keep doing it. Enjoy it while it lasts! Now my daughter gives them only when she feels like it, instead of when you ask for one! LOL
