The training in comparasion between the SEALS and LAPD SWAT varies greatly for good reason. Millions of dollars does not needed to be invested into a single law enforcement officer for training for just CQB. SWAT units also very from region to region...for lapd swat you need to have 5 years on the force before you can apply for special duty assignment, completely different compared to BUDS criteria. SWAT does invest its bread and butter in CQB though and Lapd swat like many other major city has some really great shooters, and yes, there is a nice slew of ex-military in that organization. There is no winner.

RE:
LAPD SWAT vs. NAVY SEAL?
5 LAPD SWAT has grudge against 5 NAVY SEAL soldiers and vice versa because they called each other names. Now they want to kill each other. They are both armed with their own equipments and neither can call for back-up. They can use whatever force necessary to put the other party down. Who will...

It's like comparing a semi pro team to a professional team of a sport. It take 2 years at the least to become a SEAL, SWAT you probably need a couple months of training. There are few military groups in the WORLD that could beat the SEALs, if any. SEALs win hands down.

Are the LAPD SWAT guys former special forces? Because that's about the only way they'd stand a chance. Do you have any idea what sort of training the SEALs go through? I suggest you look into the training that both groups do, and then you'll realize that the SWAT guys don't stand a chance.

Navy seals take 'em all out without losing a single person. LAPD SWAT might get lucky and wound a couple, but I doubt it.

Seals definately...Seals training is far more broad than any SWAT training could ever be. Seals are trained in a multitude of tactics, weapons, etc...much like SWAT teams are but the difference is how the teams are used. Typically, SWATs are used to contain situations, and that's pretty much their primary function. Seals, on the other hand, are trained to not only to contain situations, but also, if necessary, to bring the FULL might of the US military to bear on an enemy in one tiny, little, four-man package. Pretty nifty huh?

SWAT doesn't have grenade launchers or anti tank missiles, so that gives the SEALs a huge advantage right away. I would imagine they have better snipers too. And if the SEALs get in trouble they can swim out in the ocean and SWAT won't be able to chase them.

First of all if this ever happens it should be on Pay-Per-View or something. Man you would make alot of money on that one. I think the SEALs win. Probably see them lose 3 or 4 as well but I think they take out all 5 SWAT.

It's a lot of the same training. Depending on the environment. SEAL's aren't as well suited for urban warfare. SWAT is extensively trained so don't under estimate them. People tend to believe that SEAL's are some special unit of invincible people. Way over rated.
