You could get insurance on a Kouinsegg CCX if you can afford it!!! If your over 25 you'll probably be fine, if under 21 then stick to cars that a classic insurance company will cover, as if you take normal cover it will be expensive.

Sure you can! But you may want to call around to insurance companies for rates before you make a decision on what car to get. Its not the "convertable" part that really makes a difference. Its just the type of car in general. I would stay away from Mustangs and Mitsubishi Eclipse's as the insurance on them is very high!! To keep your insurance rates down, make sure the car has anti-lock brakes and airbags. Also, if its an older car that you wont need collision coverage on, that will save you money on the insurance too.

Yes
Convertible cars are more expensive than their tin top counter parts to insure because of the perceived increased risk of theft or damage.
Being a newly qualified driver makes you only a greater risk due to an accident.
Your insurance quote will be higher on the rag top than the tin top but this would be exactly the same for an experienced driver

If you have a drivers' license you can get insured on any kind of car. Bear in mind that certain cars cost more to insure, and if your insurance company considers a convertible to be a "sports car" that's going to make your insurance premiums VERY expensive. Be sure to shop around for the best rate, and don't by the line of B.S. being spewed by that stupid Gecko -- GEICO is one of the most expensive insurance companies out there.

Hello Catherine ,best try Shiela`s wheels but expect to pay lots of money depending on age and area ,also they will probably say it`s easily nicakable being a convertable, try joining a car club as this can help bring premiums down and try lots of quotes, ask if they do price matching?and make sure the vehicle is registered in your name.I insured my 17 yr.old daughter with Premium Choice to start learning in a mk.3 ,1.6 cavalier H reg for £800 living in Watford, hope this helps ,John Boy.

Sure you can but it will probably cost you a little more. You can get a quote from your rents insurer even before you get your car. That way you know ahead of time if you will be able to afford the payments and insurance....and remember...STAY OFF THE SIDEWALKS!!!

If you can afford it you could get insured on anything. Hence rich kids with Ferraris. Practically though its better to stick to a small car for the first few years and build up your ability and no-claims.
