There are plenty of things to do and see.
The top attractions are:
Old San Juan - here you will find forts, the first catholic church ever built in America (San Jose), The Cathedral, City Wall, shopping, great restaurants, to visit the Bacardi Rum Distillery (they give free samples) just take the ferry from pier 1 for $0.50, eat at El Jibarito Rest on Luna or Sol St., unexpensive and extremely good, there is 1 casino, and plenty of museums. It can't get more historical than Old San Juan more than 500 years old. Visit this link for a printable walking tour and more info. http://www.gotopuertorico.com/pdfs/guide...

El Yunque Rainforest - hiking trails, waterfalls, a unique experience, DO NOT MISS IT! About 35 mins from San Juan/ with no traffic!.

Culebra - sister island located on the east side, here you will find Flamenco beach 2nd best beach in US and 4th in the world, take ferry from Fajardo ( 45 mins from San Juan) $2.50 p/p.

Rio Camuy Cave Park and Arecibo Observatory Center - you can do both the same day, both located on the north side of the island, wake up early for the caves and you do not need much time for the observatory (where Contact movie was filmed), the cave park has the biggest underground river in the world - amazing.(1 hour to 1hr and 15 from San Juan)

Rincon - is a surfer's town, less hectic than the capital city, great seafood restaurants and close to Crash Boat beach (in Aguadilla/northwest) and Boqueron (Cabo Rojo/southwest), also to La Parguera where there is a bioluminicent bay (one of Puerto Rico's wonders) (2 hrs from San Juan)

Shopping - visit Plaza Las Americas Mall, the biggest mall in the Caribbean, stores for every budget, enjoy no tax until November this year.

PLEASE VISIT WWW.GOTOPUERTORICO.COM it has plenty of valuable information for your trip. But most of all ENJOY your trip!

There is so many things to do in a Puerto Rico, definitely rent a car about $100-150 a week, and speak to the locals. It is pretty easy to get around. Food, stop at the little cars on the side of the roads, those are the best and the cheapest. For less then $2-3 you can get a pretty decent meal. Buy yourself a map and enjoy the many wonders of Puerto Rico, anywhere from the beaches, to the caves to the rainforest and waterfalls and mountains. Puerto Rico is absolutely gorgeous. You will love it!

I just went to Puerto Rico over Christmas and I loved it! We stayed at Rincon Beach Resort, which is in Rincon on the western side of Puerto Rico. The price was very reasonable and it is a wonderful place! We rented a car, for around $120 for the week. Go to expedia or orbitz and rent through them...they search out the best deals for you. We also loved Old San Juan and wished we had more than the two days we alloted, to explore. Just rent a car and explore! You will love puerto rico!

PS - I should also mention....we NEVER had a bad meal in Puerto Rico. We were amazed that we could stop anywhere for a meal and it was always wonderful!

A nice but cheap place to stay is the Holiday Inn Hotel and Casino in Ponce. Ways to get around can be the new monorail the have that is in the San Juan Area. Also rent a car. Let me warn you the roads are rough and traffic is dense. Know where you are going before you get in the car. Good Luck and have a Great time.

you could commute with your identity and start certificates (once you're from the U. S.) rather of the passport yet i think of commencing up this December you are going to choose a passport even for kin commute. you could no longer verify with an embassy because of the fact Puerto Rico does not have one..that's the U. S. embassy..

You should read the answer I wrote to the person who ask about going in June. I wrote it and I gave good suggestions. Rent a car and let the wind blow your hair.
