I babysat 2 little boys. I got paid from the DPW I have no proof other than what I wrote down. The DPW will not give me a paper stating that they paid me. What do I do? If I have to file taxes can I claim my daughter? Does anyone know how much it costs to file?

If you had income you are required to file a return. If you kept track of what you were paid that is what you will need. Yes, you can claim your daughter for ctc and eic. You can go online to IRS.GOV and use their setup for free onlone filing; or you can find the nearest VITA site; information about this is also on the IRS.GOV site. The VITA site will fill out your return and file it for you free of charge. I have worked as a VITA volunteer for 36 years so I can speak with a little knowledge to back me up. If you get back to me with what you took in I can give you a ballpark figure of what your refund would be. Good luck.

It's beneficial to get something to show that you did work a bit.... You can claim you daughter... my suggestion is to call H&R Block and ask them how to go about filing. They will answer questions over the phone for free, generally.

You are only obligated to file your taxes if you earned over a certain amount.

It does not cost you anything if you do your taxes yourself. In your situation, it would not be hard.

Yes, you would claim all dependents including yourself.
