I am a married Mom of 4 great kids (ages 3, 6, 8, 9) - so I can't do anything drastic like volunteering for the Peace Corps obviously - but I just don't feel like I'm living my life to it's full potential.
Some things I want to do are possible now, some are not, nor ever will be. I would love to move to Australia, I want to live in the country w/ some acreage, I want to volunteer & help people, I want to get my college degree, I want to lose weight, I want to show my kids the country (Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Disneyworld), I want to learn a musical instrument, I want to scrapbook my photos.....
All of my "life list" items take either time or money & with 4 small kids - I have neither. Or they require my hubby to be onboard w/ me about it (i.e. move to Australia) and that is not even a possibility, he's been w/ his company for 20 yrs.
I have ADD, with that comes a need for "all or nothing" - meaning volunteering an hour a week at a shelter just won't do it for me. Advice?

Start with the scrapbook. That's a manageable project. So is losing weight. Figure how how you are going to do these things and then see if you can execute, day by day. Music lessons, college - these can all be done if you just get started.

Adults with ADD are always longing for something they cannot have. And the plans are always grandiose without being willing to put the work into getting the desired goal. These behaviors go with the disability.

Your longings are no different from anyone elses. Nobody anywhere EVER lives life to their potential. But some of us are just better at acting on the little accomplishments (even one hour at a time) that make life richer. If you have the discipline to start one thing and see it to a relative "finish" you will help yourself and your family.

Take baby steps to fullfilling your dreams and goals, it is not all going to happen over night. For example you can start losing weight today. Don't think of it as a diet though, continue to eat your meals just make smaller portions and don't snack on unhealthy snacks through out the day. Do some sit ups and lift the little one up in the air..you are playing and excerising all in one.

Volunteer in th evening or weekends when you can have your hubby watch the kids. There are many college courses on line that are real to earn a degree. Save a little money here and there and eventually you can take a vacation with the kids.

And one day you and your husband will be retiring and then hey you can move to where you like but like I said take baby steps

It seems that you have a lot of responsibilties, and you get tired.
With 4 kids, You have to make a plan which is carefully studied and don't be in a hurry.
