Did he tell even tell her she was a sinner? Did he judge her, hurl insults at her or threaten to stone her to death?
Why do Christians bring themselves to near apoplexy condemning homosexuals when their God apparently didn't care one way or the other?

Jesus did tell her simply to go and sin no more in a loving manner. As far as why many of my Christian brethren hurl insults, the only thing I can figure is that they suffer themselves from the sin of pride. Like some people think that money makes them better than others, some Christians think their salvation makes them better than others. I love telling some of them that my dream congregation is one attended solely by prostitutes, homosexuals, drug dealers, and criminals. They're the ones who need to hear the gospel the most.

A person knows when they have sinned. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to convict of sin. When man attempts it, it's pretty much a guilt trip they're laying. Here is the fine line- if you love someone, you certainly do warn them if you can see that their actions are going to hurt them, if done from love it's proper. If it's just to browbeat or keep someone in line it gives the wrong message entirely. A Christian is supposed to bind both the truth AND mercy into their lives, "written on the tablets of their hearts." Take care. And no, Jesus did not marry. He died and rose a virgin. The ONLY place we can get our beliefs from safely is the Bible. Not from someone's imagination.

You know it's funny how the stories of the Bible all seem to clash with modern day Christianity. Apparently Mary Magdalene was Jesus's lover, but the early Christians refused to believe that their chosen Messiah would succumb to such basic, human needs, so they potrayed Mary Magdalene as a prostitute to keep her story from being held as truth. Alexander the Great, one of the very first people to help organize the start of Christianity, was known to have a homosexual affiar with his advisor, Hephaestion.

Jesus would rebuke his disciples, but always with kindness and empathy knowing that they were sinful. With the woman at the well, he told her that "true worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truth, for indeed, the Father is looking for suchlike ones to worship him." The woman believed that the Messiah would be coming....she then believed that he was the Messiah and went to tell others in the town. Many became believers. John 4

Jesus would not have told her that she would burn in hell, because there is no burning hell. He told her what she need to have everlasting life "Whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water bubbling up to impart everlasting life." John 4: 14

Col. 6: 9 & 10 says "What! Do you not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God's Kingdom? Do not be mislead. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God's Kingdom."

These are all equally bad in God's eyes. And those practicing them do not have God's favor. It goes on to say that vs 11 "and yet that is what some of you were. But you have been washed clean...." So there is always opportunity for someone change their lifestyle and bring their life in harmony with God's standards.

I agree name calling and saying someone is going to burn in hell is not Christ like. It is self righteous and destructive.

to Godless: There were woman prophets Deborah for one. There are many woman spoken of in the bible as fine examples for us. Lydia, Sarah, Mary & Martha, Eunice, Ruth & Naomi to name a few. Jesus had very high regard for woman and always treated them with respect.

With the exception of the Virgin Mary, the church is all about men. Jesus and the apostles, all men. God, a man. Adam, a man. Eve, the downfall of man. All the prophets, men. The authors of the Bible, all men. Mary Magdalen, a prostitute. See how that works?

Of course He cared one way or the other. Jesus loves those people. He knew their heart.
I don't know people's hearts without knowing them for a long time. I'm not Jesus. I don't judge.
Please don't assume that all Christians are going to judge you.

I guess they forgot to put that part in the bible. But it is common sense, It is always easiest to befriend a person with a good insult. Then they will know how superior you are and take your advice.

No. But in the case of the woman caught in adultery, the one He rescued from those who would stone her...He told her to "go and sin no more". He was pretty specific.
