All priests should be against the use of condoms. For one, they actually INCREASE the spread of disease, by promoting behavioural recklessness. The contraceptive mentality is also hard on marriages because God is thrown out of the marraige.
Millions of condoms have been shipped to Africa in order to deal with the HIV epidemic, but none of the countries that stress condom use are seeing any great decline in the virus. In fact, the only countries that have significantly reduced the HIV rates are those that have stressed abstinence. For proof, click here.http://www.abstinenceafrica.org/

If you had a child who was thinking about sleeping with a person who might have HIV, would you say, “I’d rather you not sleep with that person. But, since I know you’ll probably do it anyway, here’s a condom?” No way would you entrust the life of your child to a thin piece of latex. You would give him or her a clear and uncompromised message of purity.

So, just as you would want the best message to be given to one you love, we should want the same for every person. Every human being is capable of self control, and is able to make smart decisions.

Besides, what if you taught students how to use a condom, and then a young woman came to you in two years, and asked you how she got cervical cancer, despite using a condom every time? What about the teen who gets AIDS even though he was practicing “safe” sex? What do you tell them?

All this talk about “safe” sex is ridiculous. For example, when a teenage girl becomes sexually active, she becomes more likely to become depressed, have more breakups, attempt suicide, and eventually get divorced. Obviously these things don’t happen to every girl, but the sooner she becomes sexually active, the more likely she is to suffer through them. With that in mind, it seems pretty misleading to call sex “safe” because a piece of latex is involved. Promoting safe sex makes as much sense as telling your child to wear a helmet if he’s going to play in traffic.

Lastly, the whole idea that teens are “going to do it anyway” is equivalent to saying that you’re giving up on them. Last weekend, my wife and I spoke at a conference for high school students. After the talk, a girl came up to my wife and dropped something in her hand, saying, “Thanks for the talk. I won’t be needing these anymore.” My wife looked down, and in her hand was a half empty packet of birth control pills. Now, do you think this girl would have been that impacted by our talk if we concluded it by passing out condoms for those who were “gonna do it anyway”?

It is impossible to deliver a convincing abstinence message while promoting condoms. Abstinence educators are not naive about the sexual activity levels of teens. They’re just the ones who know what’s at stake.

hahaha watch that montypython sketch that was suggested I remember that it's sssooo funny!

Well, some priests and Christians are against the use of condoms because it prevents the birth of another christian, and Christian couples are only meant to have sex once they are married with the whole purpose of reproducing and raising children with also Christian beliefs. I think older generations of catholics in general have the strongest feelings about this.

(basically believing that repodruction is the only purpose of sex, and that other feelings - lust- are sinful)

can I just emphasize that not all catholic priests are narrow-minded... some are like that because they feel they have achieved more than the rest of us. I have met racist priests, drunkard priests, materialistic priests... they're human after all, some just don't think they are though. I choose my priests because of my past and because of their genuine want to help people these priests will not judge you no matter how many abortions you have, no matter how many people you've killed, they'll admit that priesthood has many faults and is extremely organised.

These are the priests that leave priesthood eventually because so many people think the worst of them after all the hard work they do.

Priests are against use of condoms, because the Roman Catholic religion forbids sex before marriage. Once you are married you don't use birth control because your job is to have every kid you can conceive.

To be ok with condoms, you would have to condone "fornication". Another reason why I am no longer Catholic. Any Dark Ages religion that tells me that I can't prevent pregnancy is NOT for me.

This might explain it better:

"The Roman Catholic Church is against unnatural means of birth control such as condoms and the birth control pill. Roman Catholicism feels a married couple needs to be open to having children. Artificial birth control takes Jesus Christ out of the factor. The birth control pill can cause women to abort without even knowing it. Sex is a beautiful act, and when artificial birth control is used, sex is cheapened."

Not something that I believe, by the way...I'm married, but I don't want a lot of kids....

because they can't "feel" anything. Sorry couldn't resist, actually the Catolic Church is against contraception because they feel that life should not be hindered. This was a good idea when we were trying to populate the Earth, but i'm not sure it still is.

Watch Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life" Part 1A: Birth in the Third World, and you'll get a rather humorous view of the rather twisted rationale being employed by priests.

Every sperm is sacred,
Every sperm is great,
If a sperm is wasted
God gets quite irate...

Because according to VERY strict following of doctrine, it is the same as having an abortion by not giving life a chance to flourish.

First off, I am not one of those Priests....but - according to Roman Catholic doctrine - ALL sexual intercourse should be for procreation. Condoms, by their nature and design, keep that from happening, so - it is considered unnatural and sinful.

Again, I do not agree...but that is "why".

It is because people are embarrassed over sexual matters, and instead of wanting people to have sex in a safe adn practical way, they would rather hold to their traditional values and reject all forms of pre-marital sex, which is basically ignoring the problem and making it worse.
