That is usually your colon, are you constipated or irregular? When you back up it will bother you in that area. If the pain is higher under the base of the ribcage, than it could be your liver. If you have been drinking alcohol or had recent vomiting, your liver could be inflammed. If it were lower in your pelvis, it could be your appendix or cyst on your ovary.

My step-daughter is very irregular and she has pain in the area you described. I have her drink Magnesium Citrate from the drugstore and it helps clean her out and the pain goes away.

If it persists, please go to get it checked out!

When you say stomach, do you mean stomach, or do you mean abdomen? There's an awful lot of things on the right side of the body, you need to be a bit more specific.

Maybe it's your gall bladder. Look at the link below and if it sounds right, you should see your doctor. You should probably see your doctor anyway, because a bad pain is never a good sign.

Unless you were exercising too much and its a strained muscle it could be very serious.

quick test...push in on the lower abdomen on your right side with three fingers. If it doesn't hurt, release very quickly. If that hurts, go get your appendix checked.
