:) Ok, so my next question is this....We live in Texas, My fiance was in the Navy for about half of 2005. But when he went to file his taxes last year, he couldn't because he never recieved his W2 forms from the Navy. So in turn he never filed. We haven't heard anything from th IRS, so when he files this year will the IRS just take out what he ows from his Tax return this year? Or will they FINALLY notify him or what? As you can tell we are young and no nothing about this sort of thing... :) Thanks for your help!

Well I figured that he would have penalties now, I just wondered if they would send us something this year since he will be filing or if we need to get a hold of them ourselves. We have tried to get his W2 but no one will help him...... such a pain in the you know what......

Go onlone to DFAS and get his W-2 for 2005 and fill out the return and get it filed. You will have to file it in paper so include a letter claiming hardship and ask that any penalty be waived; use the military mixup on no W-2; and play the 'young & dumb' angle to the hilt. You can go to IRS.GOV online and get your filing forms for 05. You can also get at the same site info on how to contact your local VITA site for free tax help.

I believe members of the military are supposed to download their w2's from DFAS now.

I would still track down the 2005 w2 and file the return by mail. If you have a refund coming, you will still get it.

The reason that you may not have heard anything is that, according to the IRS's own numbers, they owe you a refund from 2005. They won't send it until you file.

Rest assured, you will hear from the IRS. Regardless of whether you recieved your W2, the burden is on you to get the info. and file. You will have to file and pay penalties and interest. Sorry, I know it's not fair.
