There are many online weapon uk stores you can try:-

http://www.barringtons-swords.com/
A blacksmith may end up more expensive than actually buying one online.

First off figure out why you want a sword. If you just want a pretty one to hang on your wall then you can get one just about anywhere on the Internet. If you have the slightest intentions of using it then...
First: Get instruction! I mean it...find a teacher. There is no book, video or website that can teach you how to properly use a sword. Your teacher can help you find the equipment you need.
Okay...you've found a teacher or decided you don't need to (please rethink that) and you now want a real sword...one that will perform the way a sword is meant to. Real swords are expensive (several hundred American dollars for a Gus Trim performance sword to tens of thousands for a Japanese art sword (traditionally made katana)). So figure out what your budget is.
Real swords have very little place in training. We use wooden swords (wasters and bokken) for training in Western sword arts and Kenjutsu. For Iai we use aluminum bladed iaito for the first five to seven years. A live blade is really only needed for practice cutting and for advanced Iaido students. Using the proper practice weapon is not only less expensive and safer than using a real sword, but also saves the real sword from exposure to training use that can damage it.
Check out swordforum.com. You'll find excellent advice there.

Depends on the quality you want as well. Museum Quality Replicas will sell you a VERY high quality sword that is suitable for hanging on your wall. Bud K will sell you a not so high quality sword suitable for wall hanging.
As far as something "battle ready" that also depends on exactly what you want. I'd try eBay first and a simple Yahoo search next by typing in "battle ready sword" and that should get you all kinds of things to look at and help you make your choice.
Hope this helps...

Well i see you have posted this in the martial arts section..... so are you a martial artist..... you dont sound like one! If you was qualified enough to use a sword you would already have one. It aint a toy you can just swing around. You will chop your knee cap off (real common sword injury). If you want it as an ornament you can get an unsharpened one at the market prob. If you want to learn how to use one buy a wooden one to condition yourself with first before you qualify for your licence..... kneecaps dont grow on trees!

Where in the world are you? That might give us a starting chance!
You can order them online. Try and google sword shops and see what happens!
I'm in the UK and in York, they have a fab shop that has whole loads of replica swords from loads of different era's. They even have a full suit of arms to great you as you come in.

It depends on what you want, but I'd start with ebay. You can find many different types of swords in all different price ranges on there. I bought 2 katanas there and a tai chi chuan straight sword.
Then check local listings for knife stores, they usually carry a few swords and have a catalog they can order from.

There are some quality swordsmiths in Wisconsin (of all places!) where you can get quality replicas of some historical swords. Try "swordsmiths + Wisconsin". They are not cheap, but should last you a lifetime.
