My brother was a professional cook.
One time, he came to the house and cooked " Imatation Shrimp "

I think that he used " Lentils " that were mashed up and then french fried.

Does any person know the receipe for this ?
Please.. dvz_33@yahoo.com

Well I couldn't find a thing on Imitation Shrimp recipes in the lentil sections. Seems like it's Indian cooking who specialize in lentil dishes mostly.

This is all I could find...I think if you added spices you like and some flour to this and fried it that it might be close to what you had before if you remember what else he might have put into it. You can even mix these with cooked rice before frying. So maybe you can re-invent your own version someday. Note that there are all kinds of Lentil beans and maybe he used yellow or brown or some other type and that might be what had the "shrimp-like" taste for the most part.

There are products as a previous responder said called imitation shrimp made of fish.

In Indian cooking there is a dish called Vada which are mashed lentils which are battered and deep fried. Depending on how they are shaped they could look like shrimp, and I am guessing since your brother was a professional cook, he could have made them taste like shrimp.

Just as there is imitation crab & lobster ther is also shrimp.
Imitation Shrimp Tails are moulded out of Surimi (white pollack meats), mixed with different ingredients(shrimp extracts, shrimp flavour, wheat starch, seasoning powder etc.) in shrimp shape.
Ingredients
-Surimi (meaning made from white fish)
-Water
-Wheat starch
-Egg white, Soybean oil
-Salt, Sugar
-Shrimp extract, Shrimp flavor, Shrimp seasoning powder
