I live in IL and would like to start babysitting in my own home, but I don't know what is a reasonable price to ask for.

It varies greatly by region but I think $6 per hour for the first kid, adding $2 per hour for each additional kid.

I live in California and I paid $20 per day per child and this was a discount. I have three small children ages 2-5 and qualified for a funded program which paid my daycare provider $30 per day per child plus the program provided their breakfast, lunch and snack.

WHEN I HAD MY BABY I STAYED HOME FOR A WHILE AND BABYSAT FOR EXTRA INCOME THE MOST I GOT PAID WAS 100.00 A WEEK SO IT WAS LIKE 20.00 A DAY . NOT MUCH BUT IT HELPED ......BUT ITS ALSO A LOT OF WORK BECAUSE ITS SOMEONE ELSE'S CHILD U HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL ........AND SOMETIME I FOUND THAT IT WASN'T WORTH THE 100.00 DOLLARS .....

I would say $6/hr for the first kid and $3/hr for additional children.

I found a sitter for 3.50 a hour or 100.00 full time. But most places wanted 5.00-7.00 and hour.
