Of course. But Jesus didn't end human suffering, by the way.

Sho-nuff, what happened to you?
I am dead serious when I ask this question. I can tell by your questions and answers that you KNOW your bible and you are clearly a highly intelligent person (man, I think).
My belief is that most people on here that detest Christianity have probably never even read the bible and are simply repeating what they've been indoctrinated with by some angry atheist parent or figure head in their life, but this is clearly not the case with you.
If you care to share your story with me, e-mail me at sherylllinder@yahoo.com. I will not try to change your mind about anything. I am truly 100% curious. Thanks.

Jesus was perfect, so He was the only one qualified to do that. If any of us did that it wouldn't be effective because none of us is perfect. It would just be a useless gesture. and the reason there is still suffering in the world is because there is sin in the world & people make wrong choices.

You described the physical act. You did fail to mention the torture of being beaten and whipped with peices of metal and glass on the ends of the whip, ripping out flesh. That alone would have done me in. Also his beard being ripped out and being spit on and nailed up on a peice of wood. That is the physical.
The spiritual I imagine would be a far more potent thing. To feel the sins of the entire world for all time being placed on you. Facing separation from a union you have always experienced and for the first time in all of time or outside of time, to be separated from that union you have enjoyed and been an integral part of. The bible says he sweat blood he was so stressed by the thought of that. You can't enter into the mind of God Himself. How can any of us possibly know what He did and if any aspect of that separation still remains in or affects Jesus.
If I died and rose again that's one thing...
If I died and rose again after severe scourging and having my beard pulled out is another.
If I died and rose again and was scourged and such AND had to bare the weight of all the sins of the world for all time is still another...
And If I died and rose again and was scourged and bore the weight of sin AND had to be separated from God.
No man could do that. It would take the strength of God himself to bare that burden.

Yes I would, that's easy to say to a hypothetical question.
However, Jesus was in heaven with his father and chose to come to earth as a "perfect" man and buyback what Adam lost for mankind. He was humiliated, severely beaten, then sentenced to death as a criminal. Now you ask me would I want to die for those people No I would not. I would die for family, friends, but for those who hate me??? That's is what is so remarkable about what Jesus did.
The question should be would you send your son to die such a death for people who do not want to know you or even believe that you exist? Then would your son be willing to do as you ask and die for them?

Quiet dude, you're taking away the thin veneer of "mystery and sacrifice" surrounding this particular messianic myth.

Yes, I would. If it would bring peace to the world and end conflict. I would.
