Working out on a bike helps all over. If you ride it hard your leg muscles will become larger and therefore burn more calories after your workout and throughout the day. This will burn fat cells that are on the tummy. Making you more tone but you should also do some excersises on the midsection

It will help the stomach to some extent, but there are other exercises that would help more. Actually horseback riding is a great all over body toner.
You can also do scrunches - not the full sit up- those can do damage to your back. Also a breathing technique for singers also helps and can be done anywhere. Take a deep breath expanding your diaphram and then pulse your stomach (picture pulling your belly button to your spine). as you exhale. try to do this on a count of 20.

A woman I worked with lost 100 pounds. This was before the gastric bypass surgery was popular. She did it by dieting and exercise. She said that the exercise bike was the best for taking the fat off her tummy.
I don't know if this is true or not, but that is what she said and she looked great.

yes, it does.
And compared to the same period of time spent eating dough nuts. It really is a miracle how much it helps.
kidding aside, yes lifting and lowering your legs in the bike position is using your abs.

The act of raising your legs up towards your stomach when you cycle YES, helps your abs.
I have found that walking/running does better, amazingly, but the fact that you are excercising in any form is very good.
