Satan who used to be an angel tried to be like God and therefore was against God who then evicted him from heaven. He was let loose on earth as an evil spirit who haunts and taunts us. God, however, is the Holy Spirit who has the power of ALL and if we receive the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ, we will be given the power to resist such forces.

Read Luke 10:17-20

It would appear that you may be watching too many horror flicks. I have yet to run into any ghost, spirit, devil or Satan for that matter other than in literature. Certainly not here on earth. While it is frequently impossible to resist the forces of nature, (witness the destruction caused by tsunami, earthquake, tornado, & hurricane), education has a great impact on ones knowledge and ability to resist such demons as you ask about in your question.

Angels who rebelled against God and sided with the angel who became Satan(meaning resister)and Devil(meaning slanderer) are all known as demons.
They are more powerful than humans because they are spirit creatures. They were created to reside in the heavens with Jehovah God.The word 'angel'means 'messenger'.So they were created to serve God.
We can resist their evil and cunning ploys. But we need to study the Bible and strengthen our faith. We need to pray to God and ask Him for the strength needed to resist temptation and sin.If we have Jehovah on our side we can withstand whatever they throw at us.
They are not stronger than Jehovah God.After all,Jehovah created them as well

They have no real authority over humans, spirits can be made to scram, but some are nice to have around.

It is what we allow to transpire against us.

There are some pleasant and helpful spirits too

They don't have any power at all because they do not exist - people only believe they have power because some people still believe that they do exist, and they do not. Do not fear that which does not exist - its illogical.
