You know some of these questions just gotta be answered with another question - this is no exception. Quick weight loss - how long did it take you to put this weight on? Did you do it "quickly"? I don't think so. It takes a lot of eating and a lot of sitting and a lot of doing nothing to put weight on. It will take a lot of cutting back on your eating (especially carbs), and REGULARLY scheduled exercise to get the weight off.
It's sad sometimes that we live is such an instant gratification society. Life isn't instanteous - it's a process - and so is weight control. It's a lifestyle - you either embrace a lifestyle of overeating and being sedentary or a lifestyle that is one of healthy eating and regular scheduled exercise.
Funny part is the choice is really yours! You made yourself the way you are - you can unmake yourself and become what you would like to be.
Or you can be like the guy on the commercial who is obviously overweight. He goes up to the scale, weights himself, runs around the gym equipment once, comes back and weights himself again and hits the scale because he figured he should have lost weight with that "run".
Get real - do what you need to do. Relax and live a healthy lifestyle - the rest will come to you.

Yoga is not good for weight loss. It's nothing but stretching unless you get the hard-core ashtanga or other physical forms. To lose weight you need to elevate your heart rate consistently to your target rate (60-80% of 220 minusyour age) for at least 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week.

There are different "types" of yoga that can be really effective, but i've never found anything more effective than going to the gym, working out, then going for a run. Stay away from tredmills if you can, they are worthless. I would suggest yoga as an "addon" to the gym, because it's really relaxing, and being flexible can help in all sorts of situations...

Actually a combination of the two with cardio work outs for fat-burning is the best - you should do some sort of aerobic exercise at least 3 times a week. I lost a TON of weight doing hydrotherapy exercises (hydrotone.com). These exercises combine all of the above. They are the same therapy that kept Dan Marino playing foot ball a long as he did. As always before starting ANY diet or exercise program you should check with your doctor. I know that we've seen them before, and ignored them, but theyreally are imporant.

In order to lose weight you need to lower your calorie intake and use moderate exercise. It really depends what you are doing at the gym but it is more likely that the gym would help you lose weight than yoga.

It is fairly common for women (sorry for gender stereotyping) to give up weight training rather early on because of the fear of "bulking up." This is an unfortunate misconception. It is far more difficult to bulk up than most people realize. Most men try every weight gainer product on the market (billion dollar industry) and some on the black market (steroids) in hopes that they will gain some lean muscle mass. What most people experience from weight training initially is known as "the pump" which occurs from increased blood flow and water into the muscles. The pump accompanied by some stiffness and soreness, gives the impression of "bulking up." This is when most people quit and the water leaves their muscles and they return to normal (i.e. flabby).
Gaining lean muscle mass requires pushing weight (bodyweight in the case of yoga or gymnastics and iron in the case of weightlifting) and eating lots of protein. No one goes to the gym and does some squats and wakes up looking like a female bodybuilder. It does not sneak up on you. Gaining a "bulky" physique requires a lot more lifting and pain than you are probably going to do. You will notice yourself getting bigger over time and can scale it down...but that time frame is over the course of years, not weeks or days.
If you want to look like a model (and I'm not saying you should), then you should get to the gym and workout and eat right. Fear of "bulking up" is a concept that will do nothing but limit your potential and keep you from going out and getting fit. Don't psych yourself out before you've given it a real chance.
To reverse it, most big guys tend to shun yoga classes for the fear of being too flexible. "I heard you can get injured if you are too flexible." I've been practicing yoga for years and I have yet to see some big guy come to class and suddenly become "too flexible." It's taken me years to get my foot behind my head...and it's also taken me years to get arms that look good in a tank top.
A consistant yoga practice will have wonderful effects on your body, mind and spirit. I suggest finding a good vinyasa or ashtanga teacher and practicing regularly. A consistant weight training program can also have wonderful effects on your body, mind and spirit. Certainly a little mixing and matching can be good as well.
When all is said and done...yoga (not weightlifting) will make you a more beautiful person on the INSIDE and that's what people who really matter will see and love about you.

Cardio exercises are good but lifting weights....where you actually put some effort in (non of this low weight/high rep BS) will actually keep burning calories up to 48 hours after your finished your workout
all depends on the effort you put into your workout really....it can be the shi ttiest workout strategy ever and you put 110% in and you'll see improvements
good luck
