My pastor addresses it quite often and the point for the most part is now that Salvation through Jesus Christ has been made available to all people there is no need for God to deal with us so immediately when it comes to sin. God's grace and mercy is new everyday and each day every human being gets another chance to receive Christ as Lord and Savior and become a part of God's family.

It was mentioned many times at Bible college, not as much at church. its just not one of those fuzzy fun-loving topics.
The genocides commanded in the OT are representative of hell. Those nations that were living in the promised land are representative of the people God has giving blessings to and they have not returned the favor by being the least bit obedient. Therefore, what blessings they have in the meantime will be taken away from them and blessing upon blessing given to Gods people to those who obey!

Steve R why are you constantly questioning the bible, find a GOOD pastor, minister or bible study group and you will be filled with awe and joy at the REAL content of the bible. If you understand the bible trully you will understand that everything God does is for us, so when we die on earth we will live forever.

"The Good News of Jesus has spared us from the wrath of God as manifested in old times. Thanks to His sacrifice, we are no longer bound to Mosaic Law, and God will never again have to punish the world collectively for our sins, having given His only Son for our sake."
That's the yarn. Of course, you bring up a topic like gay marriage, and it's Leviticus Leviticus Leviticus - just as if Jesus never gave us the Good News!
In other words, you can work around whatever disturbs you about the Bible - and there's plenty in it that ought to disturb any wholesome mind - by cherry-picking what suits you at any given moment and ignoring the rest. The fact that the Bible is completely self-contradictory actually works in favor of this process - if you don't like Text A, simply reference Text B which contradicts it!

I have read the OT and I know why God sent Joshua and many others into battle. God is so good to care for his people.

It would be nice to see a pastor tackle controvercial issues like this, but I've personally never seen it happen.

Oh yea, in detail. Maybe you need to sit in on one of these sermons so you can better understand God. This is typical, mock what you don't understand.
