Wouldn't be much more clever to say the devil is one being rather than a host of evil spirits? Talk about misdirection!

Misdirection is a great tool to use in warfare. Read Sun Tzu's art of war sometime.

If we say the devil is one person, we think we are fighting a war against that one person. In fact, maybe "he" is a bunch of things. If you are looking for the one you don't see the rest coming from behind.

What are your thoughts?

Satan when used in the bible simple means adversary. It seems plausible to me that maybe there is a leader among them but to say our adversary is one may be unwise.

A lot of people say Lucifer is the named one but if you read the whole chapter in context in Isaiha it says God is addresses the king of babylon.

With so much confusion surrounding our adversary, it is easily to be misdirected and ambushed by the enemy.

The first rule of war, and this is spiritual "warfare", is to know your enemy. Shouldn't we know who are enemy is so we aren't caught suprised?

Jesus M,

Is it right to say I have demon when I want to know who the adversary really is? Are you content with what people tell you in your church pew rather than searching the scriptures in their entirety yourself?

That is why we have so much trouble today. Am I demon possessed for wanting to get to the truth of the matter and settle it?

You know, the pharisees said Jesus cast out demons in the of baalzebub. I think I know how he felt.

Acts 17:11
These (from Berea) were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

Well, according to Biblical teaching, the Devil didn't fall alone. He was the most powerful and beautiful of all the angels. Logically it would make sense that the fallen angels would submit under Satan's authority and do his bidding. Either by compulsion or they too want what he wants. The devil is one being followed by other beings that also fell from perfection and were corrupted. Powerful beings and not to be trifled with.

2Cor.4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
2Cor.11:14 Satan transforms himself into and angel of light.
1Pet.5:8 Satan is an adversary, as a roaring lion, seeking to devour.

The devil is one being, however, he does have a host of evil spirits that are under his direction and his bidding. Just read the new testament to see evidence of this when Christ cast out a legion of spirits and set them into a herd of swine that then ran over the edge of a cliff.

But they do have a leader and he is the devil.

You are right. Though I believe that Satan, once being Lucifer the annointed cherub, or head angel, is the leader of the host of evil spirits. The books of Ezekiel, Isaiah and Revelation speak about it.

Satan is the fallen angel. He wanted to be like God and God cast him down. When he fell from heaven, there were other angels that went with him. You can say that they wanted to be on satan's side rather than God's. Satan and his minions work very hard to keep this world running the way it is. Look at it, it's not getting any better, is it?

In the New Testament the Book of Jude 1:6 mentions fallen ``angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home``, heaven.

Lucifer was cast out of heaven by God, once he was Earth bound his name was Satan, he took a third of the angels with him to earth to try to foil Gods plan, because God told the angels to bow to his new creation "Man" and Lucifer refused... because he was the most beautiful of all the angels and thought he could be higher than God... that's why he hates us, and he has one third of the angels from heaven to help him in his task of making us fall for his lies that we can be like God, in genesis 6:4, his fallen angels took women and had children and the children were called "Nephelim" men of renown and giants, that's why the flood, Satan almost had his seed in every bloodline in the earth, accept for Noah which God kept hid away from the Nephelim, so his genealogy was pure and not tainted by Satan's plan, if Satan's plan would have worked...Jesus could not have been born. because Jesus had to come from the bloodline of Abraham. believe it or not the nephelim are still here... as stated in genesis 6:4, Satan has another plan in the works...are you going to be deceived by it???

I believe the Devil is really Religion.
I feel that people who think, think twice but people that are misguided and mind controlled by religion don't think twice.
I believe that religion should be banished as with all devilish practices and people freed to think twice.
What better way for a devil or devils to work through men?
Religion is a choice control mechanism
What are your thoughts?

Satan is one being, with a multitude of evil spirits working for him.

He doesn't want people to believe God exists, or that Jesus was real.
