Recently, our local hospital has implemented a Dunkin Donuts within its main lobby... I have found that there is NO LINE there in the morning and have been going there to get my morning coffee (since the other Dunkin Donuts in town have a wait upwards of 20 minutes).

I normally park in the emergency parking area so I can run in and get my coffee, and up till this morning I have not had an issue. Today, my car was on the 'hooks' of a flat bed and they were moving it on when I came out. I tried to discuss this with the tow truck guy, even offering him a bribe but he REFUSED to take my car off the hooks.
I felt this guy was VERY rude to me and I'm thinking of pressing charges against the tow truck company...I was in that parking spot for less than 2 minutes and he had my car...it was almost like he was waiting for me...

do I have a case against him and my 100.00 impound fee?

You don't have a case if the parking was signed as restricted.

No. You were parked in an area clearly marked for emergency use only; I hardly think that getting coffee and a donut is an emergency. You deserved to have your car towed. (Did it ever cross your mind that maybe the hospital aministrators had noticed you'd been doing this for a while and finally had enough of it?)

Once the towtruck driver has hooked your car, there's NO WAY they're going to unhook you for two reasons: liability, and loss of fee. So the driver was rude...so what? That's life. If you hadn't been illegally parked to begin with, you wouldn't have this problem, would you?

And now I have a question for you: Are you really so inconsiderant and self-centered that you willingly and intentionally take up a space marked for those in need of emergency medical help just so you can get a cup of coffee and a donut?

Hope you're not surprised at the negative reaction you've gotten here, because you most certainly deserve it.

No.

1. You can't press charges for something that isn't illegal - rude is not against the law. Just not good customer service.
2. Parking in spaces that are labeled "emergency" is illegal, and is something you shouldn't be doing, unless you not getting your coffee and donut in the morning is a matter of life and death (if it is, Starbucks has much better stuff).
3. The tow truck driver was just doing the job he was called to do - more than likely by the hospital and/or police department. You can't hold someone accountable for doing their job.
4. If anything, the driver could get you. At the moment he took the job, he was acting as an agent of the police department, and it is illegal to bribe someone in that capacity.

I think you should just pay the $100 and count your blessings.

and your morning coffee was more important than someone's emergency medical treatment how?
I mean I need my morning coffee like anyone else, but I do not think that I would put it over someone bring their sick child to hospital.
How would you feel if you were rushing your sick grandmother to the hospital and you had to park farther away from the emergency room because someone
needed coffee?
Most emergency room parking lots have a sign that say "parking for emergency room only" and they mean that. Emergency room parking lots tend to be small and near the emergency entrance because ::::drum roll:::: they are for EMERGENCIES!

So the tow truck driver was rude to you - you have no case. Once he has that baby on the hooks you are responsible for the fine which you rightfully inquired because you were parked in an area that you should not have been parked in! Next time - either wait the 20 minutes at the other donut shop or park in the area properly labeled for hospital visitors.

You say you never had problems before - most likely someone in the emergency department has seen you parking there repeatedly and was tired of your blatant disregard for the rules and called you in.

They had your number and were waiting. Its an emergency area, so I"m sure a sign of NO PARKING was posted. Why, are you still buying Dunkin Donuts? That place is so expensive. Why don't you get a coffee machine and make your own coffee in the morning. The huge can of coffee cost $3.99 and last me about a month. But, I wll say I did like you when I was younger and would buy coffee every morning. Then I wised up... Your just pissed off, I understand. 2 mins is not a long time and I'm sure emergency could get by you no prob... Just pay it and swallow it.. Immedialty after you pay it.. Stop thinking about it forever. Get over it. That is best.

So let me get this straight. You parked in the emergency parking just to get coffee, you tried to bribe the guy taking your car, and now you want to sue him because he was rude? Are you kidding me? That would never hold up in court and besides it will cost you twice as much to hire a lawyer. You will probably need a really good, expensive lawyer to win your case. Just pay the 100.00 and next time park in the visitors section.

You deserve a swift kick in the hind quarters in addition to a $100 impound fee. You don't have the right to park there!!! Who do you think you are? People like you have little respect for anyone but themselves. Disgusting. Getting your donuts is not an EMERGENCY. Yeah...he probably was waiting for you. The hospital probably got sick and tired of you abusing the spot meant for people in life or death situations. How selfish. I hope you have learned from this...probably not. You are pathetic to think you deserve your impound fee back especially after you tried to BRIBE him. You have got to be kidding me! By the way, I would have been MORE than just RUDE to you.

You can have a case against anyone you want. Will you prevail? Absolutely not!

When they bring you to that same hospital in an ambulance, suffering from cardiac arrest, don't be surprised when they can't get you out of the vehicle because some numb-nuts (like you) has parked in the emergency zone and you wind up dead.

Enjoy those donuts while you can!

I think you need to look DEEP within your heart and listen to what you're asking. You parked your car in an EMERGENCY parking area....to get a DONUT??????? And, what are YOUR damages to sue the wrecker company? None!!! If you break the law...you pay the fine and move on in life! By the way...consider this...what IF there'd been an emergency and somebody couldn't get help to save their life because you were getting a donut while parked illegally. Save your lawyers fees and take this advise for free....MOVE ON!

you have a case in that you are obviously an idiot. serves you right for parking in an "emergency" area while you selfishly get your coffee. obviously, signs are for everyone else but you. why blame the tow truck operator for doing his job- bet you won't park there again ! better yet, i hope you do
