A few months ago, I fell for a girl who I had known for about 2 years. She broke up with her ex 6 months ago, and in the months following I noticed that her behaviour and body language towards me changed quite dramatically. I noticed she started acting very shy and nervous whenever I was around, and on the odd occasion would try to strike up small talk or ask very unusual questions about myself. On the last day of school I gave her a compliment to which my mates overheard her secretly talking about me to her friends (positively). Exams followed, and during one study session, I managed to strike up a convo with her and get her number, no problem. A few days later after one exam, she was waiting with me alone and I noticed she was blushing/nervous as she talked, this thing happened several times. So after exams finished I told her to find me so we could talk alone. She disappeared and messaged apologising, so I was forced to ask her out by phone. I did, and she replied with ambiguous no.

Continued:
When she answered her voice went into a high pitch squeal, but she said "she couldn't", without saying why. Then things got worse. Her ex found out and threatened me. Other people tried to interfere as well by lying to me. And then I pulled the "be honest card" on her by text when I didn't even know what was going on myself and told her to tell the truth about what was going on. She didn't respond. However, after I apologised in the following text message and talked about my birthday coming up, she ignored the first part and only talked about my birthday, so she continued to be ambiguous. She still does not answer phone calls. What is she doing and why?
