This seems to be the only place I gain weight. You can see my ribs, even my upper ribs (which I don't like), and I have a smaller chest (which I really don't like), but I have the jiggle condition below my waist. Any good exercises that I can do at home (I have no, and cannot afford, home gym equipment)? It is very difficult for me to make it to a gym (trust me, I would love to) because I have a small child at home, and my husband is only home on weekends because of work. Any diet tips for the run-of-the-mill "pear" shape? I realize some of this is genetic (it's a curse on both sides of the family) but is there anything I can do to help it?

Some Lower body excercises would consist of
squats, plies, curtsies, lunges, hydrants and many more which you can do a variationof for great results.
Also Biking and swimming sculpt a good butt.

Check out this website for a lowerbody workout routine and excercises.

It isn't really possible to shrink the fat from any specific part of the body. However, working the legs and the glutes (butt) muscles, has many positive results:
1. Having more muscle mass means that your body needs more energy every minute of the day (even just sitting or sleeping), so your body burns calories at rest, and you not only can lose weight, but you keep from gaining it as fast because your metabolism is more efficient. Legs and glutes are the largest muscle groups in your body, so building those will burn even more calories at rest. Toned muscles also make the area look smaller, and just better in general.

2. If you have cellulite in that area, working the legs and glutes moves blood through the area more efficiently, and you don't tend to retain water as much. (Cellulite is the effect of retained water below/around the fat pockets that gives it that lumpy look)

3. Excellent workouts for below the waist are: Squats, Lunges, brisk walking, stretching, and climbing stairs.

Go for a brisk walk with your child in the stroller for about an hour. Nothing too dramatic. Just take a good walk. When you put the child down for a nap, walk SLOWLY up and down the stairs 10 times. I say slowly so you pay attention to correct movement, and don't hurt your knees or other joints or back. Form is more important than speed.

You only need to do this every other day. Your body needs to rest.

Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span.

Get a gym that has that daycare/babysitting room- all the gyms I've been to have them. Can you buy those strollers that push the babies along while you jog?

Don't eat pears.
