Our bodies need complex carbohydrates, so we can break them down to make energy.
Processed/refined sugar? No..

Probably 50% of our calories should come from carbohydrates, but I am not completely sure.

Refined sugar that we eat today has been manufactured by men. It is found in nature at all. It is also a fact that the body gets its energy by sugar manufactured by the body itself from the food that one consumes. Taking straight sugar is thus not obligatory.
