We have a cat named Ninny and he nursed his mother until he was about 6 months old. His mother had the litter he was in and when she had another litter, he was right there alongside the little babies nursing her...

He DID grow up to be a lap baby and has to be held, petted and loved on CONSTANTLY. We laugh and say he's our little emotionally needy one but it's true. He will squeak and meow to get attention ALL THE TIME.

He's huge...but very beautiful and healthy. Here's a pic of him: http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c335/belovedecho/Miscellaneous%20Shit/S3g010004.jpg

I wouldn't stop your kitten from doing it. I think it impacted Ninny and made him the lovey monster he is today.

Some kittens do this and it will eventually stop. As like children or babies, some kittens simple require more nursing time or are more attached to their mother in this way. It's natural and if it doesn't seem to be causing physical harm to the mother's nipples, it's fine. She will let him know when to stop.

I don't think you can stop the kitten as long as the mother cat lets him. Even if you separated them for a while, your kitten has been doing this for so long already it is what it will do unless he grows out of it or the mother cat puts a stop to it.
I would just let nature handle this one!

My two cats suckled for about 6-7 months. Until there mum made it clear they werent allowed anymore. If the Mum is fine with it then you should be to. When Mum is sick of it she'll let the kitten know.
I think its great when kittens get to stay with their Mum's and nurse for decent amount of time.

Just let it go. When the mom stops producing milk and gets tired of it she'll let the kitten know.

Dont do anything. The mother will take care of it. She'll let him know when she's done in her own way.

I would just let him stop naturally. When the mom wants him to stop she'll smack him off.

You don't. Let nature take it's course. Mom will know when it's time to quit.

There's no need to stop it.

If it's annoying mom, she'll put a stop to it. If it doesn't bother her, don't let it bother you.

Just let him be, his mommy will decide when he should stop, it's simple as that, no problem.
