i am also diabetic. Bring a letter from your doctor stating that your son needs the medicine he has with him. Perhaps now you need to have it in a clear plastic bag. The best Idea I have is bring it WITH you on the airplane and inside a clear bag or inside your travel bag and tell the security guys up front before they xray- "I am a diabetic- these are my needles- I need my medicine to stay healthy. Thankyou for understanding." allow them to inspect, Most security guys have seen it before unless they are dumb newbies. It is embarassing to show all these needles but it is worse to surprise them with it. They want to get you through quickly as well in most cases. Hopefully you dont encounter an ego tripping nazi security guy...

you will likely have more trouble if you are arabic, or brown. (apologies. but it needs to be said.) Be very sure you have proper identification and a signed statement from a doctor in that case. If you are may luck be on your side. I sometimes think they want us to take boats again.

My brother is diabetic and a travel agent so I can help you.
You are allowed to take the amount of needles and insulin needed for the flight. If you have a insulin pen, well, then you need to bring the whole thing of course. The same is for you blood glucose meter. Just bring a few lancets and the strips won't hurt. A lot of airlines request a letter from your doctor stating that the medication is needed on board. All the other medication needs to be packed in you checked luggage.
It may also help him telling the flight attendant, so people next to him won't freak out when he takes his shot. Some airlines want you to call them in advance to inform them and can tell you their regulations concerning this, for some may have intensified rules.

You need a doctor's letter certifying that he is a diabetic and you must show this in order to bring insulin on the plane then insulin must be placed in a clear, see-through bag in a plastic bottle which can be seen through and not more than 100 ml of the liquid(check with airlines to see if they allow more to be brought on for such cases). This is is applicable for all EU countries.

I too am diabetic and have had no problems. You tell the staff at check-in, also at booking advise that you want diabetic meals, you will get served first.+

It is allowed. I would let the airline know in advance so they can note the record.
