Genesis 3:1-5

1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed, has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?" 2 The woman said to the serpent, "From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3 but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.' " 4 The serpent said to the woman, "You surely will not die! 5 "For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

The hebrew word for serpent is nachash which means burning one. The idea being that when a snake bit you the venom burned as it entered your body.

It makes more sense to me than some snake. The beasts of the field thing means it was smarter. Man is more cunning than the beasts too...

Do you dissect fairy tales? Genesis is a fable badly written millions of years after the supposed events and it is full of hole as the sudden appearance of all the men and their wives is unexplained.

The one who spoke through the serpent was actually a rebellious spirit son of God who became known as the Devil or Satan.
Satan used that serpent in order to deceive our first parents. He spoke through it just as a ventriloquist speaks through a doll ar a puppet. Eve was not afraid, for all animals were at peace with them and were not dangerous. God spoke to Adam & Eve and they listened, although they could not physically see him, so Eve had no reason to question the serpent "speaking" to her. The serpent was talking to her about God, so she was interested in what it had to say. The sad part is that Satan convinced Eve that she and Adam did not need God and that God had lied to them from the beginning. This was actually the first lie ever told. Satan is a liar and the father of the lie. JOHN 8:44
Satan has been given a death sentence and soon it will be carried out.

the serpent is Satan the devil. It gives you all his titles in revelations. The fruit eve ate of was the fruit of lies. There was no snake ( The term is used because Satan is low down), and apples or any fruit doesn't educate a person. she spoke to Satan, it was a conversation going on between them.

The serpent was Satan, also the burning one, as in hell.
