Contrary to one of the answers, *healthy* human food is fine for birds. It is better than all seed. They even sell pasta & veggie mix to cook for birds! Mine loves mac, & cheese, but plain macaroni I give him whenever we have it. Corn on the cob, cooked & uncooked.
Head shaking & bobbing & fluffing is just a way to get comfortable, & get rid of excess feathers & down. Unless it is *all* it does, don't worry too much, but ask at your next vet visit.

Normally they shake their head and fluff their wings after preening, this is just to get rid of all the fluff and dander from their body.
When you say that he is shaking his head - is it more of a bobbing? Mine is a baby and he bobs up and down all the time.
Be careful with the people food, there are many things they can eat in small quantities, but I lost a CAG due to him eating people food which contained too much salt and he died of salt poisening, now all my 2 get are small bits of pizza, chicken bones and the odd bit of meat we are eating.

Is the head "shaking " like nodding 'yes" or bouncing his head? Is the wing fluffing sort of lo like a shiver from the shoulders to the wing tips? If he is doing this it is a sign of excitement or begging. If he does this when you are eating in front of him, he would like some of what you are eating, or for you to pick him up or give him whatever you have in your hand.
If he is fluffing his wings like lifting the feathers and putting them flat again this is also excitement, happiness or begging. Even fluffing all his feathers is ok as long as he lays them flat again. He can only have a fluffed look when he is sleeping. A permanently fluffed bird is sick or cold.

If he is shaking his head "no' sort of like an involuntary move you need to look and see if he has parasites like bird lice. These can walk in the birds ear and cause him to shake his head.

People food is good for birds without too much salt or fat/oil. Avocado, chocolate, caffine and alcohol is toxic.

So is you bird shaking his head "yes" or "no" ?

He's agreeing, YES I LOVE MY LIFE, I am having a great time, I have so much energy. If my owners would just pick me up while I am bobbing my head up and down they could possibly hear a nice song I have been practicing. Yes he is shaking off the dander when he fluffs his wings, but the head bobbing, when my tiel does this I pick him up and he starts talking and singing.
