For my Spanish IV class, I need a topic that is well-known to the Hispanic cuture(past or present), and interesting to an American audience. Im researching the ETA of Spain, but I'd like something different. Any group, person, event, will work.

Its a research paper, on one topic, not a persuation essay.

If you are focusing on Spain

Person: Francisco Franco
Group: ETA
Event: Running of the Bulls in Pamplona

If focusing on Mexico:

Person: Benito Juarez, Pancho Villa
Group: Texas Rangers- they were originally formed to fight Pancho V.
Event: Cinco de Mayo (and why it is NOT Mexico's Independence Day!) OR the Spanish Mission Trail

You could also discuss what life is like for the maquilladoras. Too many people here in the US believe that all of Mexico is either beaches like Cancun or the ruins on the Yucatan. Why not discuss what life is like for these peole in the border towns, most of whom work in factories making goods for Americans? This is one of the factors in immigration, affects economy of both countries, and is not overdone.
