they where bought from auther ackermanns of regents street and are still in those frames, would it be advisable to re-frame or not.

apparently if its from ackermanns 191 regents street it must have been framed before they got into financal difficulties in 1855 when then stuff was sold off. the frames are very scruffy but it has the old brown paper with ackermanns address on reverse. so just dont know whether to reframe.

E A S Douglas was a sporting painter from the 19th early, 20th centry. They are extremely good paintings.
I am not an expert on prints but if you look at the edge of the coloured bit it should dip down really this shows that a great heavy press has pushed the colour onto the paper . A modern photoed print would not have this . Also never mind my ignorance if it was framed by Ackermans it almost definately an original print . Is it signed on the white part of the paper? . I should take it to a well known auction house. I think it is rather nice to keep it in its original frame but if it looks a bit scruffy it might need redoing : at least the mount .
