Hi, I'm looking forward to a career as a translator for an embassy and I've looked all over for information on this and I cannot seem to find any useful links. Please help. Thanks

Even in the UN, competence can win over connections. Anyway, why not apply? The worst that can happen is that somebody says no.

However, you need to know that embassies very, very rarely employ full-time translators. Usually the diplomats who meet with the local government figures speak the language; if one (perhaps the ambassador) doesn't, a protocol or political local employee who is also extremely knowledgeable about the topic will attend a meeting and will help when necessary.

I would like to see the answers for this as I am also..looking for a career translating for the UN... I was however warned that to get in, you need some sort of connection otherwise you have noo chance...
