Enstead of buying the expensive CCTV sytems. Could I use the WEb-cam for a live vision of the rooms or garden area?

Yes you can. You can watch live video. One difference is in the recording of that video. If you want to store mass amounts of video, you will need to set up some sort of mass storage for your video files. Professional CCTV systems will compress the video and store it in a Digital Video Recorder (DVR). Depending on the number of images per second and the quality of the video that you record will determine the amount of storage you have or the necessary hard drive space required. Another difference is the quality of video. Most professional CCTV systems will provide anywhere from 330 to 540 (and up at a cost) of horizontal lines of resolution, the more lines the better and greater cost. You will have to check the specific model of Web-cam you are using for the quality compared to a professional system.
