any who knows what they are talking about will tell you that your puppies walks should be restricted. labs are prone to hip dysplasia
and long walks at early ages can aggravate and make the pups condition worse. 5 mins per month is the absolute maximum you should walk a pup, this applies till they are about 1 year old. you should also try and make your pup avoid going up and down the stairs to much as this can also aggravate the condition.

I don't advise taking him out for more than about half an hour at the moment, it can cause all manner of problems to a puppy's growing joints if they excercise too much at this age, you should really wait until he is at least 12 months old before going for really long treks, but for the moment keep to 2-3 short walks a day, try to be patient, I know it's not easy but it really is for the best, also you can speak to your vet about it and even the breeder of your pup!

Take it easy, they have soft bones and their muscles have yet to develop. There's no golden rule but I guess my Dad started me off slow and gradually increased it after about 6 months. I run and run chasing golf carts and trains. I started the longer runs at about 9 months, but only on the flat, no hilly stuff. I am now 15 months and I get 1 x 1 hour walk and 3 x 15 minute walks a day. Sometimes in the afternoon he'll give me an hour round the golf courses as a treat. I have a healthy appetite and I am about 24 kilos so I am about full grown.

I have read that you should walk a dog for 5 minutes for each month old they are, so a 6 month old puppy would be 6 x 5 minutes = 30 mins. And around 9/10 months I would say that they could be walked for as long as you wanted but just start to increase it slowly ie not walking for a very long walk each day.

Don't walk your pup continuously for more than 5mins per months of age. So thats no more than 30 mins in one go.
Taking him for an outing with frequent breaks etc is different. Its the strain of constant walking or jumping that will do the damage.
Wait until he is 1-1.5 years old before you take him for long walks. (A tip is that dogs have to wait til that age before they are allowed to compete in agility so its a good bench mark from experienced dog owners)

take him on a very short walk the first day and then maybe skip a day and then take him on a slightly longer walk the next for now i would keep it under a mile. but you need to work up to longer walks i would wait till he is at least 9 months before you do anything too long. you could also try running with him in a couple of months. your dog sounds great and will be so physically fit which is fantastic.
congratulations to the both of you for being active!!
good luck

it will be different with every dog. What you want to pay attention to are the growth plates in their legs, which you can feel with your hands. When those plates close, you can do about anything you want. Until they close I restrict a dogs exercise to soft suffices (dirt as apposed to pavement) The reason for this is because it really isn't the amount of exercise that can do the damage, it's the impact to the joints and growth plates.

i take my 7 month old lab for a 15 min. walk along my street every night, but on a Sunday i take him down to the beach and give him a big run on the sands
he loves it and would go on and on if i did not stop him, i have never heard of it doing lasting damage.
i know dogs will only do as much as they want to and will stop when they get tired.

6 months old Lab? That pup should be able to walk farther then you can. Unless it is over weight. The dog will tell you when it is tired. You can not walk with a 6 mth old Lab and hurt him. Now, if you ride a bike or drive a car and let it walk beside you, you can hurt it.

Well
Read this ebook here http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=416. It's the only good resource I found online about train models with a step by step guide to plan and build a model railroad.
Hope it helps.
