My brother is a big hunter, and he says that you should marinate the steaks in a mixture of red wine, terryaki or soy sauce, garlic, and other spices to your liking. That is supposed to take the gaminess out of it. I haven't prepared it, but that is how he does his, and it usually tastes good.

Take two can's of mushroom soup and a few steaks, add a little bit of garlic, all season salt, and onion power on the steaks than put them in a pan, preheat the over for 350 and then take the mushroom soup and mix a little bit of milk with it, and pour over the steaks, put in oven and let cook for 30 mins or till done, it will give a wonderful taste to your gamey venison.

Always soak venison in milk for at least a couple of hours before you cook it. It acts as a tenderizer and takes out the "gamey" taste.

Marinate it in Itailian dressing then cook. A hint for the venison next time if your the one shooting it. Don't leave the hide on the deer after you shot it the meat absorbs the oil from the hide and that is what gives the meat a "gamey taste". Try it, it really works

Before cooking the meat, soak the venison in milk in the refrigerator for a few hours. That will leach the blood out of it and make it less gamey.

I'm not a fan of venison because its just too (for lack of better words) gamey for me. BUT...I have heard that serving it simply is the best. Roast your venison with a healthy amount of salt and pepper and chopped veggies...like carrots, onions, and potatoes in a roasting pan. Happy eating!

Soak the meat in milk (in the frig) overnight if you can. It really helps. I like making Chicken Fried Steak out of venison. The breading and the gravy helps too. Hope this helps.

There is no such thing as "gamey". Either you've never had venison before and don't know what it really tastes like or your meat has begun to rot due to poor storage.

Skip the venison steak, make it into jerky or sausage.

Seriously, though. You have to add a lot of spices and veggies while cooking it. Also, cooking it slowly helps mellow out the flavor.
