When I bought a satchel type bag I was warned to carry it by the handle if I put heavy books in it, but I ignored this, and carried probably 6kg on 1 shoulder every day for a year... this resulted in me getting a lump like the bone sticking out a little bit (in comparison to the other shoulder, it feels higher), there wasn't that much pain... I finished studying two months ago and the lump doesn't seem to have gone down much... any idea what this is and how long it will take to go away? Thanks.

Edit: It's not really bothering me that much as it's not painful now I'm not putting a bag on it... I just want to know if it's anything that needs attention.

It should go but how long it will take I don't know. It makes you realise just how heavy your books were and you were not carrying them all day. Women get the same sort of thing where their bra straps dig in their shoulders....they do go eventually but they feel bumpy. Do a bit of exercise in that area and build the muscle up a bit, no one will notice. If you are worried go see your GP, put your mind at rest.

Sounds like it may be a cyst - a painless, benign swelling. Get your GP to have a look at it to be sure.
