My persian kitten is over 8 months old. I started clipping her claws when she was about 5... i noticed that the skin around where her claws grow (both on her front legs/arms? is that the right term?) started to become flaky and appears to have sort of an infection (flaky skin debris which are also kind of wet at the same time although it doesnt smell). It appears that i may have clipped her claws longer than the usual... but then i noticed that the claws at her hindlegs are like that too, which i never clipped at all...ever... i only clip the ones at her front legs/arms... what could it be?

Please take her to the vet!
You've probably (by accident) infected her claws by using clippers that are not clean and sterile. When animals are Little they are just like human babies with a limited immune system, and little one need a little more care.
the vet should be able to give you an ointment and probably some antibiotics esp if it is fungal.
Ask the vet about Bismuth Formic Iodine (BFI Powder) Not sure if it available any more, but is a great antiseptic powder for animals(and Humans).
Also giving her a bit of fish oil in her diet(she will love) will help with her immunity, fur and nail condition.

It sounds to me that she has a fungal infection. If you can please take her to the Vet, if not then there are some Over the Counter anti fungals for both cats and dogs at the better pet stores like Tractor Supply Company or Pet Smart. But advice over the phone from a Vet can also be helpful. I know my Vet has free advise whenever I need it. When I call my Vet I get real spacific with my questions and ask what I can do to help allieviate the problem, they are usually very understanding about this and can give you an idea about what you can and cannot use on your pet. They too understand that there are medications over the counter that work just as well for your pet that they also prescribe.

the same old suggestion, see a vet. they know plenty of things! Or you can help buy clipping her claws lesser, lesser not never. and you can help by cleanng her feet with a damp cloth to keep them clean, in case of anykinds of infection.
