I have two dachshunds that our 18 months old. Four months ago we had a daughter, which has created some problems with one of our dogs. He is peeing everywhere. He was crate trained and we have not had problems like this before. Our vet suggested D.A.P. to calm his nerves, which helped for the last three months, but today he has peed 4 times in the house. I am going to lose my mind. The other dog is an angel compared to this one. We love him alot and just want to solve the problem and quickly. Help!!!

Meds only help temporally, but they do not fix the problem. I know this is going to sound weird but try to give the dog some individual time with just you and or your mate, I know just having a child it's going to be hard to fine the time, but it sounds like he is jealous of the new comer, and he probably thinks that that is the only way to get your attention is doing his duty on the floor weather it's positive or negative attention he is getting it either way.Dogs are smarter than most of us humans think they are. My dashie did that too and it has work for her, I have to set time away for her too, I did the 30 mins then I went down to 15 mins, she is only a year old. Good luck and congratulations on the baby girl

There is no easy answer, Has he been "fixed"?
This often helps, the only other suggestions that I have are to give him a lot of SUPERVISED time with your baby, along with your other dog (a girl?) praising when they are both good puppies, and hoiking him outside when he pees.

Vinegar is a good product to use to neutralise the odour from the peed on areas and the sharp smell will often stop boys from peeing in the same place.
Generally it is a matter of him trying to show you he is boss, or insecure about where he now fits in with his human pack, and if you are consistent with whatever method you try it will help.

(Imagine what you would do if he was a toddler faced with a new baby and you get the idea)
Good luck.

maybe the D.A.P ran out? if it worked for three months then suddenly stop maybe it is time for a refill. Does the dog pee when he is excited or just when ever

Maybe you should find a new home for the dog--he doesn;t seem to be adjusting to the baby. And maybe YOU need to take the DAP for your nerves.

put a bell up by the door you would normally let him out with.hang the bell low enough so that he can touch it with his nose.the moment you put it up,ring it.then go outside with him, whenever he rings the bell let him out.if he goes to the bathroom the first time you ring the bell, praise him a lot!!!then leave the ringing the bell stuff up to him so he can go outside and do his business when he wants.you just have to let him out!
