How do you feel when you are out with someone with a friend or on a date and they continuously talk on the cell phone (constantly answering and taking calls)?
Does it make you feel ignored?

I know this is going to sound like a Dr. Suess ryme, but...not on a date, or on a train, nor in a theater or in a restaurant; not when I'm eating or having a night out with friends. The cell phone, iPod and computer have become the substitute for human contact and we're losing some of our humanity and social skills as a direct result...I'm not letting it happen to me! And if she wants to see me again, neither will my date!!

It is extremely rude to talk on a cell phone on a date, or even answer it for that matter. I always turn my ringer off, then u can check missed calls after your date. If the person u are with can't go an hour without talking to his friends then that should be a red flag right there that u will be sharing alot of his attention with them.

It is rude! I once got up and left a date because of it and when he called to ask why I left, I explained to him that it is rude to bring a virtual third party on a date. Unless you have kids or an elderly person that you are caring for and the other party knows this up front, you shouldn't be talking to anybody, but whoever you are sitting across from. Some things should just come as common sense.

I only take calls from the babysitter or my kids. I have my phone set to vibrate, so it doesn't disturb the whole room. I also excuse myself and say "I have to take this call, it's my kids" (usually whoever I'm out with will understand) and I keep it very brief and to the point of the call. I do not chat with anyone for any length of time on my cell during time out with someone. That's rude.

I've also had this happen to me, but there was a time I was visiting my mother's (about 2 hours drive for me) and she took a call from my sister (who lives about 30 min away) and just began chatting with her about nothing in particular. So I told my mom, "Well it looks like you're busy talking, I'll head out to Dad's house" She was quick to end the call and appologize for being rude.

Yes. It is very impolite to do so. The person should only answer those calls that are from immediate family members in case there is an emergency at home, or business calls, if the person works with the emergency services. Other callers can leave a message at the tone. BEEP.

I would not feel anything, because if I happened to be on a date with someone and they chose to talk on the phone to whomever, instead of paying attention to me, then the date would be over, he would take me home, or I'd take a cab. If I liked him, I might tell him to call me, because when he has a "free" evening, we might try it again, and if I really liked him, there would be a second date, if not, he would be HISTORY!!

I don't answer my cell phone when out with someone. If that person I'm out with does, I just look at them and then after that they wonder why I never answer my phone when they call me.

Yes it's very rude. I pay extra for voice mail service on my phone so when I go into meetings..etc, I can turn my phone off confidently knowing that people who really need to get ahold of me can leave a message, & i will call them back when the time is right.

I havent been on a date in a while but i do think its rude to do that. I use to turn off ringer and or the pager if thats what i had at the time. If the other person is giving me all her attention i feel that she deserves the same..
