I have the same problem with my min pin.. I called the vet and told her that I couldn't put the drops in her ears because she would bite me.. she suggested i put my min pin in a towel with just her head showing.. it didnt' work.. i finally figured out i had to just show her who was boss and now she gives me no problems.. just be firm and when you dog lets you put the drops in praise it and give it a treat . it will learn that when it lets you do what you need to do it gets attention.. the drops burn is why it runs and hides

Hi Mark!!
You should let the vet look at the dog and look deep in the ears to see if ther eis an infection.
And what if it's something other than an infection?
Does it smell?
If his ears are smelly it's probably a yeast infection and drops are usually required for that or it simply won't go away.
Painful ears require pain medication and steroids.
In case of dogs runs away and hides.... catch him, lift them up, vertically. There must be a certain pressure over the bottle; then a massage in the ear's base so the substance gets in and dissolves impurities located at the bottom of the channel. Then get a piece of cotton with the point of your finger, and take away the rests of the product. The animal must not suffer any pain, and cotton should stay clean enough. Don't use a cotton stick; with it you can only push dirties to the bottom of the auditory channel instead of eliminating them.

Just went through this with my lab - I found that if I talked soothingly to her and scratched her under the chin to relax her first, then gently (remember the ear is probably sore) hold her head and slowly fold back the ear flap and squeeze drops in. If you try to do it quick and herky-jerky , it panics the dog. Also, once you have applied the drops, massage the ear to work them down in. Otherwise, as soon as you let go of the head, the dog will shake vigorously and most of the medication will come flying out! (I learned from experience!) Good Luck

make sure the drops are room temperature, sit on the floor with her and pet her until she is calm. After you have placed the drops in her ears rub her ears and work the medicine down into the ear canal.
I had 2 different vets try many different drops none of which worked. A trainer got me to try swim ear and the problem has gone away. I use it about twice a week. good luck.

Have someone hold the dog while you administer the drops. I have a St Bernard with allergies and he get ear infections because of it. We have him lay down and my son gently holds him while I put in the meds. Works every time!!

we had the same problem with eye drops. I tried everything, doing it while he was alseep, holding him and getting someone else to do, taking him to the vet each time, taking him out to the car, as he didnt like to car. On top of the washing machine, i no strange-vet suggusted it, going to the garden, giving him a nice sausage - try while he eat it. Try see if they help you. Its easy for a vet two say apply twice a day, but dogs are harder for us compared to them, good luck

poor dog. when your dog tries to run away.. you can use other methods to console and lure him out.. like everytime he sits there nicely you go over and pat him on the back... when he finally settled down you can give him trats and then slowly put in the ear drops.. if your dog still is behaving very badly, i suggest you see a vet.

You just have to be the boss. Be very loving, talk to him while youre doing this procedure. It soothes our dogs when we clean oout their ears. We do it with a cotton swap and alcohol. You need to do it every week. If you do that they will be less susepticable for ear diseases.

I had the same trouble with my pup with both his eyes and ears.Dont make a big deal of it, your dog will pick up on it.Just be calm and relaxed about it.If you still cant get them in get a blanket and wrap him up (not too tight) this way he cant struggle or hurt himself, then get someone to hold him while you put them in.Good luck!!
