Join the YHA.
Contary to the name, you don't have to be a youth to join.
Rooms are about £21 a night in London, and breakfast is about £3.50 extra, but it's a nice and big breakfast.
As for cheap tickets, there are plenty of ticket booths in London that do cut price tickets.

There is a half price ticket booth in Leicester Square. You might not get tickets to the show you want. Premier Travel Inns are very good in London. About £55 a night for a room, so pack it with all your friends!
