Wish there are an easy solution, but if you're on prescription meds now, under a doctor's care, and you're not getting better, you need to visit the doc again. Folk remedies such as you might find here are going to be much less useful as the treatment you are already getting. If it has been a couple of days and you have not seen a noticeable improvement, call the physician's office and tell them so. They will likely want to reschedule an appointment for you to come in again. By the way, your doc did OK taking the Over The Counter (OTC) drugs with his prescription, right? Some can interfere.
Good Luck!

You have a serious problem with breathing. Your body, by coughing, is trying to get rid of the junk so you can stay alive. You need to figure out how to help it. I have had good results with a cool mist humidifier. I add a bottle of hydrogen peroxide to the gallon of water in the COOL humidifier and run it close to my bed while I sleep. This helps to disinfect the lungs, and keep the junk soft so it can move and I can cough it up. (if you use heat - a regular humidifier- it separates the peroxide) Your body makes Hydrogen peroxide as a disinfectant, so by breathing a real fine mist with a little peroxide in it you are not introducing some poison, but are aiding your body in a natural way. Postural drainage might help. Try lying with your legs on the bed and your upper body hanging down for a few minutes, and see if that aids in getting rid of the junk.

Your case is very similar to other case from a 22 year old guy I helped before. With a test I have in one of my books I might be able to find out what you have and get a natural medicine for you since regular medicine some times just don't work.
