sometimes, certain meds can dehydrate us. i know some expectorants can do this. that's why usually, if a med is dehydrating your dr will tell you to keep up fluids.

give him some pedialyte, ginger ale, water, juice....see how it goes. if he starts wetting diapers more, then you have your answer...he was dehydrated.
now, if it doesn't work, then look to see if he is retaining water...are his fingers and toes like sausages? are his ankles and joint look swollen? if so, then ask the doctor what you can do for relief.

OR you could just call your pediatrician and tell them what's going on and they may be able to help you.

take care.

Is he being given decongestants? If so he may be slightly dehydrated. Make sure he drinks more fluids then usual. Something that has extra vitamins to help him get over his infection would be helpful. Go to Boots or a grocery and get a juice drink made especially for children. If possible put a humidifier in his room to aid his dehydration. Put a small drop of Tea Tree Oil or Eucalyptus Oil (available at Boots) in the vaporizer to aid in breathing.

I read some of your other posts to this question and ice pops are another great suggestion. If you don't have any, put some juice in a small paper cup with a stick in it if possible and freeze it. Within a few hours you'll have a healthy ice pop that will help him rehydrate and bring his fever down.

he is getting dehydrated, try giving him gatorade that works good and pedialyte. I had the same problem with my daughter she had a bacterial infection in her sinuses and she wasnt peeing very much either but the doctor said as long as she has about 2-3 wet diapers a day shes alright. Just make sure hes drinking.

He needs to drink more. If the inside of his mouth is still moist and he has tears when he cries, he's not really dehydrated, but if he doesn't - he needs to see the doctor TODAY.

If his ears hurt, the bottle might not appeal to him. Try a cup or a clean eyedropper to get some fluids into him.

Make sure he is drinking enough fluids. Give him popsickles and lots of drinks. All the medication you give him for chest infections and ear infections are dehydrating. So he needs extra fluids to make up for it.

Toddlers go through this stage as they are now able to have control over their bladder and bowels - also make sure he is drinking enough fluids as kiddies can get dehydrated which will lead to them being dry - if you are worried contact your midwife

Check with your pediatrician. Your son probably needs more fluids, during the day.

If he is still drinking a normal amount then it is probably worth giving your doctor a call. If he has a temperature then he could be sweating a lot out.
Best to have peace of mind.
