If someone give you their telephone # what are you supposed to say when you call them? Especially when you don't really know them beyond saying hello once in a blue moon. thanks

They really mean they would like to know you better and talk to you privately.They really mean they like you in other words.Go for it...Calling them is the only solution to know what they really want.

it shows they're interested in you and they want you to call them...if you're not interested in them, don't call...
if you got the number unsolicited, then you're under no obligation to call and you made no promise to call...but never EVER say you will call and don't call....that's just rude
